Labor Management Relations and Services

Achieving positive labor management relations is one of the most important elements of successfully running a transit agency or company.   It begins with having good communication mechanisms in place that provide the opportunity to discuss issues and work through problems before they become major disputes.  Well defined rules and employee performance requirements are necessary for the efficient delivery of transit service and are a must in both union and non union environments. Labor contract administration is a learned skill and requires knowledge of the agreement, a sense of fairness and knowledge of the principals of just cause when implementing new rules or imposing discipline.

Collective bargaining services may include support in developing negotiating strategies, advisory services during bargaining or leading the negotiations. Adams' approach is to understand and not lose sight of the owners objectives and strategies while maintaining a positive bargaining environment.  This approach also entails understanding the union's position and objectives and recognizing that each party has a stake and gain in the outcome.
